Jane Helsley & Dirk Velten In the early 90s,
when Jerilyn and Danaan were birthing Essential Peacemaking/Women & Men, we
were drawn to the work as a powerful tool for personal and cultural healing. We
had the good fortune to attend the first U. S. Advanced EP/W&M training for
facilitators in 1992, and have since been privileged to offer more than 35
workshopsboth together and with other co-facilitatorsthroughout the
United States and Europe. In 1993 we traveled to Findhorn, Scotland as part
of a 14-person co-facilitator team that trained 168 facilitators from 23
countries in a special week-long EP/W&M. Accredited as Two-Day Trainers
that same year, we were also invited to co-facilitate the 3-Day Advanced
Trainings with Jerilyn and/or Danaan, including Boston (1994), Nashville
(1995), Steyerburg, Germany (1996), and Princeton (1996). After Danaans
death in November 1996, Jerilyn asked us co-facilitate the 3-day Advanced in
Seattle (1997) and to take on the role of 3-Day Facilitators for the U.S. from
that point forward. Danaans passing has been an excruciating loss for
us all. It has been heartening to us that throughout her grieving process,
Jerilyn has been determined to ensure that the Essential Peacemaking network
remain vital and strong. We stand with her in that commitment and will do all
we can to sustain the original vision as it continues to unfold. And, as
Jerilyn and Danaan always encouraged, we hope to contribute our own piece of
the puzzle as well. Because of our interest in healing the wounds of racism
particularly within the United States weve seen to it that
our EP/W&M trainings during the last 5 years have been ethnically and
culturally diverse, including a Two-Day training that was 75% African-American.
Consistently, weve found that when men and women of different backgrounds
genuinely engage issues around gender, the doors to interracial and cross
cultural healing open as well. We build our personal and professional life
together in Dallas, Texas, and our company Mandorla Resources
International takes much of its inspiration from EP/W&M. The mandorla
is the meeting place of difference, and we work with individuals, businesses,
and communities that are actively engaging issues around gender, cultural
diversity, sexual orientation, and spirituality.
